Chapter 1
“This sight sickens me. What could have possibly ravaged the elves like this? This tribe held 7 masters, who ever did this was large in number and high in skill,” all of this was obvious, but this rogue drow (dark elf) was the first to speak up. This was because the others weren’t capable of speaking at the moment. Before them lay a slaughter of over 200 elves, and not a single dead enemy to explain the slaughter. As if this weren’t enough, every victim was marked by a single strange ruin carved into their chest. The dark elf turned to his human companion and revealed yet another mystery “ There are no tracks which to follow, its as if the beast that did this, well… they disappeared.”
“I hear…there’s a sound in the distance,” the female Cattie Brie whispered to her dark elf companion. “ Drizzt, what do you hear,” she asked referring to the dark elf’s keen sense of hearing. “It sounds like muffled scream, I can’t be to sure,” he replied to her in silent hand code. They stealthily moved towards the sound, drawing their weapons. Drizzt whipped out is twin scimitars, Cattie Brie took out her dazzling sword, who’s name could be translated into “cutter”, for its ability to slice through any known material. They came to a hut, set ablaze by the enemy. Drizzt charged the door and kicked it open. His eyes widened when they saw a small child trapped in the midst of fire.
“What is it?” Called Cattie Brie in fear for Drizzt’s life. “Stay back!” is all the drow replied. Drizzt slowly approached the fire. “Watch out” Cattie Brie screamed. Drizzt looked up in time to see a rafter collapsing on him. Using his instincts he dived forward towards the child, making a dodge from the pillar that any other would have been incapable of. He grabbed the small boy, trying to calm his hysteric spasms and screaming. Seeing no other way out, he called upon his magical companion for help. Then appeared the infamous, Gwuenvar, a great dark purple cat (similar to Mehandlu’s Stalker). The massive cat reared on its hind legs and sprang at the burning wall. The wall burst into splinters as the animal rammed into it. Drizzt followed through the newly added exit his magical companion had made. Rolling out of the fire he brought the child over to Cattie Brie. “You made it out just in time,” she said in relief. “What are you talking about the fire wasn’t too powerful, we weren’t in too much danger,” and of course as Drizzt said this the building collapsed completely leaving nothing, but ashes. Cattie Brie smurked at Drizzt, showing her joy in proving him wrong. “The child, we must take him to silvery moon city and find proper care for him,” she said while maintaining a smirk. “Well this little fellow has done something you can only do once. He cheated death,” but at the time the drow had no idea how ironic his words were…
